Lesa Breding, creator of the mom said i did WHAT?! journal...
Like many new moms, I approached my son’s baby book with perfect penmanship and an abundance of enthusiasm. However, the beautiful documentation soon gave way to scraps of paper: a traced little foot in my day planner; growth measurements filed away with insurance receipts; his first joke tucked in the kitchen drawer. Sadly, my organization wasn’t much better by the time his baby brother joined the party!
My desire for a convenient and low-pressure way to record kid moments inspired me to create a journal for moms. It was also important that the journal be stylish…something I would personally enjoy carrying in my handbag or leave on my coffee table.
The goal is to keep your journal handy—bedside table, kitchen cupboard, briefcase, office drawer—wherever you can reach at a moment’s notice. Use it to hold treasures you’ll eventually transfer to THE baby book or a permanent keepsake in and of itself. Someday much sooner than you think, your grown child will thank you for capturing their youthful spirit!
The title mom said I did WHAT?! conveys amused surprise, which is how my sons react when I share memories with them. Among their favorites: Alex kicked me in the ribs during Easter church two weeks before he was born and his stubborn little foot wouldn’t budge (an early indicator of his persistent nature!) Not to be out done by Hayden’s gift for persuasion, ”I have two tummies, Mommy—one for dessert and one for the other stuff. The other one is full, so can I have a brownie?”
The featured art belongs to my friend and professional artist, Alexis Leneave. You’ll also find quotations guaranteed to make you smile. Here’s an Estonian Proverb that definitely applies to parenting, “The work will teach you how to do it.”
